Kelly has enjoyed the benefits of physical exercise her whole life. She danced both ballet and jazz from the age of four and took up running in her early 20s, which led her to run half-marathon and 10k races here throughout the Pacific Northwest. She became certified as a group fitness instructor for the second time in 2008 and began teaching strength, cardio and core strength classes at Ridge Fitness. In 2010 she became a licensed Zumba instructor and now teaches Zumba at CVES, SMS and Ridge Fitness.

Zumba exercises include music with fast and slow rhythms and resistance training for fitness and losing weight. Zumba music comes from the following dance styles: Cumbia, salsa, merengue, mambo, flamenco, chachacha, reggaeton, soca, samba, belly dancing, bhangra, hip hop music, axé music and tango.
